Reporting Services 2000 and Visual Studio 2005

I am new to Reporting Services. Is it true that you have to have Visual Studio 2003 installed in order to use the Report Designer to create reports to be published in Reporting Services 2000? Is there a way around this?

Thanks!

you need it. You really only need vb .net std 2003 ($100 retail if you can find it). I looked on ebay and found a couple copies for sale. You could probably get them for cheap.sql

Reporting Services - Installation Question

Hi,
Can I set up RS and then install VB.NET 2003 at a later time to add the
Report Designer functionality?
Thanks
Jerryyes. After you install the IDE just re-run the RS installer and select the
development tools.
