Reporting services 2005 extremely slow performance

I have installed Reporting 2005 as a part of SQL Server 2005 setup ( SQL
Server got upgraded from 2000 to 2005)
The general web interface is completely unresponsive!
It takes 5-10 seconds just to move between the tabs, not talking about
running reports.
I have dual Xeon 2.8Ghz machine with 3Gb of memory available - it should
respond momentarily.
Anyone with the same problem? Any ideas?
TIA.I've the same problem. I have a server 2003 with SPS 2003 + RS 2005 (on
a different port). SPS 2003 is very fast, but I need to wait 30s when I
click on a folder (just browse). My server is a HP 360 with 2 CPU +
4Go, I really don't understand :-(|||The first time RS starts up after a lag you will get a long pause like that.
This is an IIS thing. You can set timeout on the IIS application pools.
Go to IIS Manager, under Applocation Pools node, right click
"DefaultAppPool" in which the Reporting Server work process is running,
select properties. On "Performace" tag, you will see, by default, the app
pool will shut down if > being idle for 20 min. You can extend this time to
8x60min 480min, so that the app pool will not shut down for a regular
working day. However, the first report reader of the day, will hit the
delay. You may schedule a dummy report at beginning of a work day for this.

I tried everything - so far no luck.
Yes, it takes a while to load the CLR for the first time.
But the reposnse after that is still slow.
I can see a message on status bar - "downloading picture ..." of a really
small gif file for a few seconds and that is in a local mode!
Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Oleg, is it only reports with an image? If so, where is the image stored
(database or external)? Also, initially you said just seeing the reports,
not running them. Once RS is spun up you should see the report listing
pretty instantaneously on your configuration. RS 2005 is faster than RS
2000, both for displaying report list and running the reports.
Just to make sure, this is from Report Manager, not from your own app?

As mentioned before - the Report manager is slow. I'm not running any
reports yet.
It is very, very slow, when moving between pages within Report Manager
interface.
Even Report Manager's own small image files are loading extremely slow,
until they are cached.
I suspect it is an IIS issue. There are a lot of other web applications
running on the same IIS server, but they are fast.
The only problem is RS 2005.
Thanks.

The other possibility might be authentication. Still, you would think that
would only be right when you first connect.

That is the only 2.0 app in the system yet.
Uninstalled SQL Server 2005, reinstalled it completely from scratch - same
problem.
In addition to the problem description I'd like to list some verbose logs of
simply changing pages within a Report manager

Seems like any SoapAction calls take a long time to execute in a local mode
on a very powerfull machine.
Question is why?
