Reporting Services 2000 RSClientPrint

For some reason I am not seeing the Printer Icon on my RS tool bar when
running a report off of the report server. I looked in my add-ons for
Internet Explorer and RSPrintClient.DLL is installed and active. However, it
says that it is not verified.
How do I correct this problem? Do I have to uninstall the RSPrintClient.DLL
file manually and let reporting services prompt me to install it when I run a
report?

>|||I believe SP1 it is installed. I don't think it is a service pack issue.
The strange thing is that there are users on Reporting Services server that
run reports and see the printer Icon. Just my user ID that doesn't for some
reason. It is probably releated to the way the RSPrintClient.DLL is
installed on my machine.

Reporting Services (SSRS)

Hey everyone...I'm completely new to SQL Server and I'm trying to learn the Reporting Services tool. I just installed SQL Server 2005 and selected to install all the options, atleast I'm 99.99% sure I did.

When I go to launch Report Services Configuration, I get "No report servers were found on the specified machine. Details: Invalid namespace". Do I need IIS for this to work?

Also, I do not think the AdventureWorks database was installed, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I have tried to go back through and reinstall it, but it says that it is already installed.

Also, is there a certain order that you are supposed to install things? i.e. SQL Server before Visual Studios?

YOu definetly need IIS to host Reporting Services. If you did not install that prior to the installation of Reporting Services / SQL Server 2005, the installer skipped the Reporting Services (server) part, although you might activated a "full installation". But at the beginning of the setup there should have been a warning at the prerequisites pages telling you that server components of Reporting Services will not be installed due to the lack of IIS.

Actually no. You will have to

-install IIS on your computer
-Register ASP.NET on the IIS instance again using aspnet_regiis -i on the commandline.
-Install Reporting Services
-Done.

have to purchase it or does it come as a tool with SQL?

EleanorIt is licensed the same as SQL Server so if you run it on the same box (web
service + db) as SQL then there is no additional cost above the SQL license
cost. If you install the web service on a separate server then you need a
SQL license for it in addition to the one on the server hosting the report
server databases.

Reporting Services - Tools

Hi there,
I am new to MS Reporting Services and would like to know if there is a way to add more controls to the tool box in vs .net to put variety of controls on the rdl reports. for instance by default the toolbox doesn't have a dropdownlist control. If there is a way of doing so, would someone please tell me how?

Because Reporting Services is output independent and we don't have an eventing model, you can't use regular VB or ASP controls on the page. We are looking at ways of making this possible in the future.

In SQL 2005, we have what is called 'Custom Report Items', which are Reporting Services specific controls. We expect that there will be serveral third parties offering these, including an enhanced chart from Dundas Software. See http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/2005ssrs.mspx for some information about Custom Report Items.

Reporting Services - Crystal to SSRS

I have a requirement to convert reports from Crystal Reports to SQL
Server Reports. Is there any tool to do this? or Do I need to redesign
every report in SQL Server Reports?

Reporting service virtual directories on non default web

Hi, I installed the two virtual directories on a new, non default web with
the RS Configuration Tool, what was well done and described on
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155921.aspx. If now I try to
access the server by: http://<hostheader>/reportserver it looks up for a
web.config file
(C:\Programme\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\web.config) in
the base directory. So this file is not there, why it shoud be. With
http://localhost/reportserver it works without this file. What must be done
more to use the report service on non default web?

Reporting Service 2000 + Visual Studio 2005??

Hi all,
I need to create some reports in my company and I have SQL Server 2000 and
Visual Studio 2005.
Well, to create reports I will use the tool Report Server from the SQL
Server 2000. When I try install RS I can't because I don't have the Visual
Studio 2003.
Can someone help me?
--RS 2000 requires some version of VS. Used to be the cheapest way was to by
VB.Net 2003 (about $100). I don't really know if that is available anymore.
RS 2005 ships with its own version of VS 2005 (or integrates with VS 2005 if
you have it). RS 2000 cannot use VS 2005 (RS 2000 is a 1.1 framework app).
