I am building a report based on an SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services = Cube of staff members' hours worked for a month, broken down into = chargeable and non-chargeable time.
I can create the dataset that I require fine and add 2 columns to the = filter panel and tick the PARAMETERS check boxes (year and month). It = then generates 2 other datasets for the parameters and adds those = parameters to the report.
I have added a table control to the report and grouped by staff member's = name.
When I preview the report I can select the parameters and generate the = report.
However the data fields in the detail row [e.g. = "=3DSum(Fields!Work_Hours.Value, "KothesDSS")"] gives the grand total of = all staff members' hours for the month and repeats for every staff = member - it does not seem to be grouping and giving me the total for the = individual, just the total for all staff over and over.
Any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks.

--=_NextPart_000_0008_01C60620.7A602800--Hi Colin,
Two things to check:
1. Make sure the scope of your sum() function is set for the staff member's
name group (i hope "KothesDSS" is the group name. Otherwise, if it's the
dataset name for the whole table, that would explain why it always shows the
total for all the staff)
2. If the above won't work, then try replacing sum with
RunningValue(Expression, Function, Scope)
example :
RunningValue( Fields!Work_Hours.Value, sum, "DataSet1" ) or
RunningValue( Fields!Work_Hours.Value, sum, "<name_of_your_group_here" )
Hope this helps,
Andrei.

Colin Halliday|||Thanks, "KothesDSS" was the dataset name. When I changed this to the group
name it worked fine.

Reporting Services - Export to PDF problem

We are facing some problem while exporting the SSRS (SQL Server 2005 SP2 installed on win2K3) Report to PDF format, problem is when we export report to PDF format all the data after 80 columns gets wrapped to next page which not only increases no. of pages in the reports but also disturbs the report format for example if a report contains only one page and 320 columns of data and if we export it to PDF format then the PDF file will have 4 pages each having 80 columns of date. Has anybody faced the similar issues? would appreciate if you can give solution for this problem or forward any link which discusses the same.

That is a common problem, you are exceeding the width of a sheet of A4. With 80 columns your column width would have to be tiny to fit them all on one page. You can get yourself a little extra width on the page by having it render in landscape mode, just swap over the width/height values under the PageSize parameter for the report. You can also reduce the margin sizes. These techniques will not get you a lot of extra space, if you still need more then the only way to get it is to redesign the report (more tables) or select less data (narrow the parameters or filter the returned data).

Reporting Services - Excel vs HTML ERROR plz help

Hey,
I have a little format issue with Excel 2003:
I am working in reporting services - creating a report. The SQL store
procedure returns a date with the following format:
MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM PM/AM
In my report on that perticular text field I have the following format:
dd/mm/yyyy HH:MM:SS
Because I want it in military time.
It displays fine in the report but when I open it in Excel it brings up
the following ERROR:
"File Error. Some number formats may have been lost"
And it shows the date columns the following way:
"38692.46597"
The document is NOT huge and does't contain more than 2000 rows.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Sorry for posting twice(first post on here).
I have put this same post in the reporting services group.. Sorry
