reporting services add-in for WSS

I am having issues installing the reporting services addin for sharepoint.
While the installer claims the install was successful, I do not see the
features in Sharepoint Central Administration.
A look at the install log shows that the install failed. I am logged in as
administrator, this account is also the primary and secondary site
collection administrator on sharepoint.
User: administrator
Installing Report Server feature.
Calling copyappbincontents command.
copyappbincontents command completed successfully.
Adding Report Server feature to farm.
Report Server feature was already installed.
Activating Report Server feature to root level site collections.
Activating feature in web app 'Replica'
Activating feature to root site collection: http://localhost:81
Feature already activated in site collection http://localhost:81
Activateing Report Server feature in all admin site collections.
Activating feature in web app ''
Activating feature to root site collection: http://localhost:43565
******* User does not have permission to add feature to site collection:
http://localhost:43565
Updating DocIcon.xml file
DocIcon.xml file updated.
Beginning install of cab files.
Calling HCInstal for lcid '1033'
Outcome code is: 32
...
Cab files installed successfully.Figured this out. I had installed WSS when the computer was not attached to
a domain using the local administrator account. And, now the computer is
attached to the domain. Even though I was logged in as the domain admin and
had changed the site collection owners to this domain admin account the
install of Reporting Services add-in kept on failing. So, I logged in using
the local computer admin account and did the install and that worked.

Reporting Services Addin - Set Server Defaults Error

Hey All,

I installed Reporting Services Add-in with no problems on a Virtual server that already hosts MOSS 2007 and configured everything that was stated in documentation. The Report server Url works fine..like http://myserver1:802/ReportServer and I can see the contents when I type this url.

However, when I go to Central Administration and click on "Set Server Defaults"...I am getting a "401.1 Unauthorized..." error.I setup the Manage Integration to TrustedAccount and the Grant DatabaseAccess to the account that is the Server.Farm and local administrator.

In the Reporting Services Configuration, I used SSRSWebAccount for WebService and SSRSWindowsAccount for WindowsService and the RSAppPool which is the ApplicationPool for ReportingServices Web Site uses the SSRSWindowsAccount only.

Anybody..please help.

Thanks,

Vedala

I resolved my problem by installing SQL Server 2005 SP2. All along I assumed my virtual machine had SQL Server 2005 SP2, but after looking closely, I found that my version was 9.0.3033 and not 9.0.3042 which is official SP2 release version. I grabbed that and reinstalled it on my image and everything started working.

I however did couple of other steps too...which I did not go back and undo and test..so at this point I am not really sure if only the above was the problem or something else.,,, I will update this post with the blog entry about my issue later.

Thanks,

Vedala

Reporting Services Add In

Hey all,

still trying to fix my issue of that when i try and install the reportsin services addin, that it is not completeing.

The log file is as follows:

User: SYSTEM

Installing Report Server Feature.

SSRSCustomActionError: Sharepoint is installed, but not configured.

My setup is as follows:

MOSS 2007 installed on a box by itself

Virtual Directories are located in E:\ instead of C:

Sharepoint 07 is up and running all OK. 70 Users connecting

Have checked farm admins and site collection admins. User dsadmin is there (same user that i am installing the client with)

Reporting Server is a SQL server on a different machine. Has been working fine with existing sharepoint 2003 installation.

Does anyone have any ideas at all? Im going nuts trying to work this out..

Thanks in advance

Scotty

for anyone who runs into the same problem ,check that the installing user, and the local system and NT AUTHORITY users have access to your SQL DB. This was my problem.
